Oklahoma legislators are considering HB3259, which would allow our schools to hire adjunct teachers without a standard certification. According to the bill text, adjuncts would be allowed to teach up to 90 hours per semester.
Let’s be like New Mexico and kill this bill before it goes any further.
New Mexico Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez, D-Belen, said he could not support a bill authorizing the hiring of adjunct teachers because the regular workforce has been so disrespected. “PED is trying to demonize our teachers,” Sanchez said.
