The Associated Press reports that Oklahoma lawmakers are considering a National Right to Life Committee backed bill that would require the Oklahoma Department of Education to develop curriculum for anti-abortion curriculum to be presented in public high schools.
Proposed legislation that would mandate Oklahoma’s public schools to teach that life begins at conception comes with a high cost of developing course materials for a state expected to have a $1.3 billion hole in its budget next year.
Editor’s Note: We at OEJ value human life, both born and unborn. We believe that if one wants to claim that one believes in the sanctity of life, that must extend to those lives currently existing. If an unborn child is sacred, so is that poor child whose parents are barely scraping by. It is hypocritical to insist that women must give birth to their children, while at the same time giving away the health and educational supports she needs to raise her child well.
