Not only are poor students going to be stuck in unfunded schools when all the middle class kids escape to their partially-state-funded charters and private schools, but with this bill, they can also forget about medical care. No more funding for ADHD medication, no more diabetes medication, no more antibiotics for that lingering cough, forget eye glasses to see the board, and dental care for that sore tooth.
Even better, if you live in the middle of nowhere, there will be nowhere without transportation to a city, you won’t have any community health centers or hospitals nearby anyway. They won’t be able to afford to stay open.
But we better keep those test scores up!
Don’t kick low-income parents off Medicaid: Oppose HB 2665
HB 2665 would seek federal permission to strip Medicaid eligibility from all non-pregnant, non-disabled adults under 65. In Oklahoma, this group is made up of over 110,000 very low-income parents of dependent children per year. Get this post as a fact sheet.
